Somatic Healing for Unresolved Childhood Trauma
Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget.
Logically, you know it happened in the past, but somatically, your body responds differently.
“I know it happened in the past, but I can’t move forward. People have told me to move forward. Previous therapy helped me to understand, but there’s something deeper inside of me that won’t let me feel like myself. I seem to be doing okay in day-to-day life, but at night, the thoughts, the flashbacks, and the nightmares invade my mind. I have negative self-talk. I often feel on edge. I mean, I know what I should be doing, but I can’t do it. I feel brolen.”
If you’ve ever felt this way, you are not alone. Unresolved childhood trauma often lives in the body, long after it has ended. It may show up as anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, chronic tension, difficulty making decisions, or trusting others. You might logically understand your past, yet your body reacts as if you are unsafe. You’ve tried the affirmations, the journaling, the deep breathing, and challenging your thoughts, but that has not been enough.
That’s where my integrative somatic therapy approach comes in.
Many of my clients feel like competent, high-functioning adults on the outside, but inside, they’re still reacting to life as that scared, unseen, or overwhelmed child.
Your body is still running on old survival responses written decades ago, based on experiences you had no control over.
It’s as if your nervous system never got the memo that the danger has passed. That’s where I come in to help gently update that blueprint so the body can learn what safety, connection, and ease feel like now.
A Multimodal, Embodied Approach to Healing:
In my practice, I blend Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and sound healing using crystal sound bowls to support your healing journey. This work invites your whole self—body, mind, and spirit—into the process. Rather than just talking about trauma, we help your nervous system safely process and release what’s been stored for years.
What You Might Be Experiencing:
Chronic overthinking or emotional overwhelm
Hypervigilance, anxiety, or shutdown
Difficulty trusting yourself or others
Shame, guilt, or disconnection from your body
Relationship patterns rooted in early survival strategies
What Healing Can Look Like:
Feeling safe, grounded, and present in your body
Releasing trauma responses gently and with consent
Building trust in yourself and your choices
Connecting with the younger parts of you that needed more care
Experiencing moments of joy, ease, and even play
How We Work Together
Our sessions are gentle, paced to your nervous system, and fully collaborative. We might begin with somatic tracking, explore parts of you using IFS, process memories through EMDR, and close with grounding sound bowls to integrate your work.
Your body leads, and I follow with care and intention.
You’re not broken, you’re holding wisdom. Let’s help your body remember what safety, connection, and ease can feel like.
