All parts of you
are welcomed here.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful, compassionate approach to therapy that honors the many layers within you — and helps every part of you find peace.
You are multi-faceted — and we honor all of it.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is not family therapy. It's the exploration of the internal family within you.
Have you ever said, "There's a part of me that feels like…" or noticed an internal tug-of-war between competing thoughts or decisions? That's your inner system at work. IFS understands that humans are not just one thing — we are made of many parts and layers, each with its own voice, role, and intention.
Instead of fighting your feelings, get curious about them.
Instead of trying to fix, eliminate, or push down your anxiety, depression, anger, or inner critic — IFS invites you to slow down and get to know them.
Emotions exist within us for a reason. They alert us to what's happening in our inner world. Rather than stuffing them down, IFS helps us listen. When we understand what a part is trying to protect us from, everything can begin to shift.
Your parts aren't the problem — they're trying to protect you.
In IFS, we work with three types of inner parts. Each one plays a role in your inner world — and each one deserves to be understood, not silenced.
Exiles
Young, wounded parts that carry the pain, shame, or fear from past experiences — often pushed out of awareness because the feelings are too overwhelming to hold.
Managers
Proactive protectors that try to keep life running smoothly — often showing up as perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-controlling, or your relentless inner critic.
Firefighters
Reactive protectors that spring into action when exiled pain breaks through — showing up as impulsivity, numbing, substance use, or any behavior that brings fast relief.
The Self
At the center of IFS is your Self — your core essence that is always present, always whole, and always capable of healing. The Self is characterized by calm, curiosity, compassion, clarity, courage, creativity, connectedness, and confidence. IFS therapy helps you access and lead from this place, so your parts no longer have to work so hard.
Anxiety
Meeting the worried, fearful parts rather than fighting them — and helping them feel safe.
Trauma & PTSD
Gently unburdening exiled parts that have been carrying pain from the past.
Depression
Exploring the heavy, hopeless parts and what they're protecting you from underneath.
Inner Child Work
Connecting with and reparenting young parts that never received what they needed.
Self-Criticism
Understanding the inner critic's original protective role — and helping it soften.
Adverse Experiences & More
Any experience that left a part of you burdened, frozen, or stuck in the past.
