We Invite the Body Into Talk Therapy

Increasing awareness and mindfulness through the body.

Repeated trauma and/or stressors can often impact the nervous system in a way that takes it outside of its normal rhythm. This trauma builds up energy that may remain stuck and has not been released.

When this happens, the nervous system may have difficulty handling the ebbs and flows of daily life — making it difficult to concentrate, manage emotions, handle stress, interact with others, or remain in the present moment.

How Somatic Experiencing Works

Harmony returns to your nervous system — one sensation at a time.

Somatic Experiencing aims to bring harmony back to your nervous system. This method slows you down as you revisit the trauma to explore your sensations in the present moment. We may pause during parts of the session to bring awareness to what is going on in your body, memory, senses, or sensations you are noticing.

Bringing mindfulness and flow back to your body helps reset your body's natural rhythm and releases built-up energy caused by trauma.

The Key Ingredient

Slowing down is the key to moving
through trauma without re-traumatizing yourself.

Your therapist will assist you in taking it slow to process what is coming up in sessions — always at your pace, always with your consent. The nervous system heals not through pushing, but through gentle, titrated return.

What to Expect in Sessions
01

Slowing Down

Sessions begin by slowing down — not pushing in. We build a felt sense of the present moment in your body before moving toward anything difficult.

02

Tracking Sensations

We bring awareness to what is happening in your body, memory, and senses — pausing when needed to notice and process what arises, without overwhelm.

03

Releasing & Restoring

Stored energy is released, built-up tension completes its cycle, and your nervous system's natural flow begins to restore — building new capacity over time.
